As a city in Oklahoma County, Edmond is a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area and is the 6th-largest city in the state with a population of 68,315 as of the 2000 census. Relocate America has listed Edmon as one of the Top 100 Places in to Live in 2007. Universal Publications of New York has recently named Edmond as America's best small town.
Education
Edmond is home to Oklahoma's first school. The school house still stands today as a historic monument. Edmond Public Schools manages 24 schools, among which are 2 National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence: Edmond Memorial High School, awarded in 2001, and Edmond North High School, awarded in 2007. Within the city, there are 28 public schools and 4 large private schools. About 50% of Edmond residents over the age of 25 have at least a bachelor's degree or higher. Within 50 miles of the city, there are 19 colleges, universities and vocational schools, including the University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma Christian University and Seminole State College.

One is never out of the loop of city happenings. The Edmond Life magazine is a periodically updated newsletter for all residents. The magazine focuses on keeping residents informed about city services and programs while keeping them entertained with special features. Edmond Life TV also gives residents access to the ongoings of local government, public service announcements, city planning and more. All residents are also given the Edmond Living Residents Guide, a highly-valuable resource with a city directory, park maps, and routes for The Eddy, Edmond's efficient trolley system.
Attractions and Recreation
Edmond is a lively and friendly city along Route 66. Walk down the streets of town for a rich intake of art as public art is found throughout the downtown area. Bronze statues, stained glass, steel sculptures and more line the streets. Local and well-known performers can be found at the Jazz Lab, a state-of-the-art entertainment venue. Live music booms from the park amphitheater during outdoor concerts and much relaxation can be found on the championship golf course. Events are scheduled every month ranging from Cow Kids Camp, to fresh fruits at the farmers' market, to war stories with the veterans.
